There is something inspiring about walking into a Christian book and gift store, although Christian book stores aren't the only places to find Christian gift items. Whether shopping for children, a teacher, your friends or family, the options are endless. What is encouraging to anyone looking for Christian gifts is the availability of these gifts in mainstream retail gift, book and music stores.
Children and Teens
- Children love story books and the songs tied to the books. Veggie Tales is one option for children of all ages. In the series, fun fruits and vegetables tell stories from the Bible, teaching children valuable lessons of morals, virtues and offer children a fun way to learn how God wants them to be. Books, toys, games, videos and music are all a part of their methods of learning of God. Children's books about holidays and what they are really about also can be useful gifts. Messages about the little drummer boy, what each item in Benjamin's box has to do with the Easter story and the journey Mary and Joseph took right before Jesus was born are only a few of the subjects these beautifully written and illustrated books cover.
Costumes related to the armor of righteousness offer hours of play and lifelong lessons learned, as well as felt piece stories that can encourage reading, imagination and lessons on how life should be lived with God's instruction.
Teenagers love the young adult series of stories that touch on the issues they struggle with in an entertaining manner. No boring lectures are found in these books, but the lessons and advice stay with them. And the same types of music found in mainstream music can be found in Christian music, although not usually the the same messages. Pop or contemporary Christian and alternative Christian music are two of the top-selling genres. Some alternative Christian music bands include Hawk Nelson, Switchfoot, Reliant K and Toby Mac. Contemporary Christian artists include Natalie Grant, Britt Nicole, Newsong, Selah and Steven Curtis Chapman. You can hear these artists and more on secular stations as well because of their popularity. Mainstream music stores, department stores and discount stores sell these artists.
Men
- Christian gift ideas for men include music, biographies, nonfiction books and fiction selections in mystery, thriller or suspense categories. Software for in-depth Bible studying, budget software and investment advice on DVD, CD or software from Christian financial planners and advisers are other ideas. Dave Ramsey is heard on many Christian radio stations and is a regular contributor on "Good Morning America."
Dads may enjoy "Wild at Heart" by John Eldridge, "Battlefield of the Mind" by Joyce Meyer, "Raising a Modern Day Knight" by Robert Lewis, "How a Man Faces Adversity" by Robert Hicks or "The Ancient Path" by Norman Willis.
Women of All Ages
- Many types of gifts will bring great joy to women. Stationery and pens can be tailored to whether the recipient likes floral and fancy, contemporary or humorous. Books bringing humor, joy, comfort, reflection or an avenue to identify sorrows hidden deep inside can be just what they need. Music and videos to enjoy while drinking from a delicate teacup decorated with a verse and floral design can be a joy to be shared over and over. Willow Tree figurines are popular as each figure is an "angel" celebrating births, weddings, graduations and other life events. A necklace, bracelet or earrings to share the message that the recipient is God's daughter can be worn any day of the week
